Oregon Gulch Fire Growing Quickly

[ Update: 5:50 p.m. ] Fire is estimated to be 1,700 acres.

Swirling winds from nearby thunderstorms has forced firefighters to pull back from the Oregon Gulch Fire [ corrected Legal Description at 5:00 p.m. ](T40S R4E Sec 32), which is burning in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Copco Rd. is closed at its intersection with Hwy 66, just east of Pinehurst. A Level 1 evacuation advisory is underway for residences on Copco Rd.

The fire, discovered today, is more than 100 acres 450-500 1,000 1,700 acres in size and growing rapidly.
