Medford Airtanker Base Pumps 270,000 Gallons of Retardant in Four Days

A river of retardant flowed out of the Medford Airtanker Base between July 26 and July 29. As many as seven air tankers were hauling retardant to the wildfires across the state and the planes dropped a total of 270,000 gallons. It took 13 semi-truck loads of raw retardant to keep the red stuff flowing.

Air tanker traffic out of Medford has dropped off significantly in the last couple of days, due to reduced fire activity in southwest Oregon and the smoky sky.
