Stratton Creek Fire 70-75 Acres

A fast-moving fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. in the Stratton Creek drainage, approximately 12 miles northwest of Grants Pass. The fire is burning in heavy brush and dense forest, and is estimated at 70-75 acres in size. The fire has reached the top of a ridge, pushed by winds gusting 10-20 mph.

There are six crews assigned to the fire suppression operation, along with four fire engines from the Oregon Dept. of Forestry's Grants Pass Unit, four bulldozers, and three helicopters.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
